Different players in the new Revenue Management environment have different responsibilities and thus need different knowledge and tools to support them.
For example, Senior Management must understand the business rationale behind Revenue Management and how to measure performance. They need to have the knowledge of core Revenue Management concepts and methods of performance measurement.
Property Revenue/Reservations Managers, on the other hand, are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Revenue Management program and need to know how to use the system in detail in addition to understanding the basic RM concepts. Another category of user, the RMS System Administrator, is responsible for the smooth operation of the RMS and needs to understand all of the technical details of the computer system.
The objective of the Revenue Management Training is to equip all users of the Revenue Management system with sufficient and appropriate knowledge and tools. Simply put, this training theory emphasizes that learning occurs at three levels:
1. Knowledge: Awareness that concepts exist (e.g. knowing that Events are part of the process for forecasting demand)
2. Comprehension: Understanding the concepts and how they inter-relate (e.g. understanding how Events affect the forecast, that demand from Events is not used for normal forecasting and that an event factor is instead calculated based on past demand during that event).
3. Application: The skill to do something (e.g. the skill to define events and to examine the application's Event factors to determine whether or not an override is required).
