This has been an exciting time for our industry and Rainmaker. I was very happy to meet with many of you in Las Vegas last month where several industry events took place, starting with the Gaming & Leisure Roundtable which is a rare and valuable opportunity for information technology and business leaders from gaming and hospitality companies across the country to share and leverage ideas with the partner community. |
We were fortunate to spend time with many clients and colleagues there, and the buzz was very positive throughout the week. Of the more than 1,150 gaming industry pros surveyed at G2E, 77% reported they feel positive about where casino gaming is headed in 2012. Four out of five also believe that the gaming company they work for will be stronger next year. This is supported by a recent report by the American Gaming Association (AGA) stating that gross gaming revenues increased 1% compared to 2009, showing stable industry revenue growth in challenging economic times. Rainmaker was honored to receive two industry awards that week. The first was the
Partner Award from Gaming & Leisure magazine, an award given to a company that best illustrates an understanding of clients' real-life problems by offering products that provide appropriate solutions now and for the future. The second honor was a 10th Annual Gaming & Technology (G&T) Award from Global Gaming Business
magazine in the Best Productivity-Enhancement Technology category. We are grateful to our customers and believe strongly in partnering with users to keep our solutions strong and continually evolving to meet the needs of the markets we serve. To that end, we were delighted to spend time with many of you at our Client Steering Committee Meeting that rounded out the week.
In September, Bonnie Spalding, our vice president of Asia Pacific operations, moderated a panel discussing how to "Integrate CRM, RM, and Marketing to Reap Maximum Long-Term Profits & Loyalty" at EyeforTravel's Travel Distribution Summit. This was a rare break for Bonnie who spends much of her time in Macau managing our revolution™ implementations for Melco Crown Entertainment. Read about that in the side column of this newsletter.
If you are interested in how social media tools are being used by revenue managers, you may want to listen to the podcast below where I shared ideas with Casino Enterprise Management's Jenessa McAllister on "New Media Matters." TribalNet,
the annual technology conference for the Native American industry, is coming up November 14-17 in Scottsdale, AZ at the Talking Stick Resort. Rainmaker is sponsoring the Casino Night "Meet and Greet Event" from 4:00-7:30 pm on Monday, Nov 14, and we look forward to greeting many of you there... or at our booth (look for us near the entrance at the tradeshow). You can also send me an email to schedule a meeting at TribalNet.
We hope to see you before the holidays.
Tammy Farley Principal & Co-Founder The Rainmaker Group Casino Enterprise Management Talks with Tammy Farley on New Media Matters
Tammy Farley was interviewed this month by CEM's Jenessa McAllister to give listeners an update on revenue management, marketing, social media and what's next. The main question was: What new media, mobile and social networking tools help revenue managers and marketers blend their disciplines?
Tammy stated that "Revenue management and marketing absolutely must blend. In the casino world, an active marketing department is largely focused on the player community. They may do direct mail and free play to steer guests into the hotels. The revenue management folks, who have complete visibility into what demand looks like, can guide marketing on what days need promotions versus days when there is strong organic demand." For example: - Twitter and Facebook can be used to drive targeted promotions to a discreet fan base.
- Hoteliers use mobile to target guests on the floor to extend their stay for a day, or with a day play promotion.
- TripAdvisor, Yelp and other review sites give hoteliers insight into guest sentiment. The integration of reputation scores and revenue management is a greenfield opportunity.
